Hi, Im having a problem upscaling my DVD's on my new DVD/HomeTheatre In A Box System. I have it connected to my TV thru HDMI cable and basically when I try to upscale DVD's I get what some call the "sparkle" effect, basically few pixels flashing white and red in different places.
First off when I view my DVD's at the standard 480p without upscaling there is no sparkle at all, as I upscale to 720p I get few sparkles and at 1080i I get a lot more sparkles. I know some people say sometimes it could be the HDMI cable, well my cable is brand new its only 1m long and I tried reseating it a few times that didnt help. Then I also tried a second HDMI cable that I have which I use to connect my PVR to the TV and same problems there so its not the cable.
Im really stumped at what else I can try to do to fix this, any advice is appriciated. Thanx.
I also wanted to know would me watching DVD's with the sparkle would in any way damadge my TV overtime?

If it isn't the cable, then it is most likely the player itself. And no, it won't damage the TV.
