My sony digital 8 camcorder has a dirty head. I need a cleaning tape for it but can't seem to find one anywhere. It is a sony V8-25CLD cleaning cassette. All the web sites that say they carry it have it on backorder....no telling when I will get it. Sony does not support or make it anymore. I knew you guys and gals might have info on a site or store that might carry this cassette.
Any help would be appreciated.
Daughters graduation soon and need camera up and running.

Try Ebay..

Heads can be cleaned with a special chamois wet with alcohol, if you can get to the drum. It works far better than a cleaning tape. Chemtronics makes the best chamois.

That was just a quick search, you might be able to find them cheaper somewhere else. You have to be able to get to the drum to use them. -
The chamois with alcohol that samijubal recomended works good. Using a buissness card pressed against the drum and rotating 4 or 5 time works as well if not better.
How do you know you have a bad head? You didn't mention if the camcorder was Hi8/digital but if it was, play back a previous analog recorded tape. If it palysback with flashing video and snow then a head is clogged.
If it playsback with what looks like a tracking problem then it's not a clogged head problem. Sony has a history of tape guide set screws that come loose on the tape guides. The tape path will have to realigned.
