I just installed a fresh copy of ME on another computer which I only use for several programs that doesn't work under XP. After successful installation of Windows I was about to install graphics and other drivers when I discovered that I can not open zipped folders. I thought maybe I could install zip, but even so the zip software wasn't extractable. Than I went to see if I can create a compressed folder on the desktop or c drive and I couldn't. So what am I missing here??? I am also unable to go online with it yet to do updates if any.

You could put a copy of 7-zip in there. It's in a .exe format, so no extraction needed: http://www.7-zip.org/

It's about 800K, so it will fit on a floppy.

  4. Go to control panel, double click add/remove programs, click the windows setup tab, scroll down to the system tools, double click it and put a check on compressed folders.
