  1. I am trying to convert an Avi file that was captured using ulead media studio pro 6.0 from a dv camcorder to a svcd compliant mpeg2 file. I have followed the instructions on this site and even though the video looks fine on my mpeg 2 file the audio has noticeable clicks and pops that are not on the original avi file. I even tried using toolame as the audio enecoder as shown on this site but the encoded file from tmpgenc still has the same clicks and pops. I selected the svcd template in tmpgenc and have only fooled around with cbr and vbr so I am not sure why I am having this problem. Is it a problem that may be fixed by using the latest version of TMPGenc or could it be the original dv audio which I think is actually at around 48000 hz and not 44100hz. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

  2. I have the exact same problem you are having with the audio clicks and pops. I even tried extracting the audio from an AVI using VirtualDub and then resyncing it with the video in TMPGEnc and still get bad audio. I've also seen many other postings about this problem but nobody seems to have a clear solution to the problem.

  3. I used ulead media studio pro 6.5 editor and converted my avi from type 1 to type 2. Then used tmpgenc 2.02 and converted to mpeg2 and when I played the clip it had no pops or clicks. Although the audio was not as good as the original. I will now try toolame as the mpeg 1 layer 2 audio program and see if that improves the auddio sdome more. I also need to see if I can capture the avi in MSP to type 2 from the start. will let you know.
