  1. After reading post here, it seems Xvid is the best codec for compression etc. At least it seems to me the compression is better. I now mainly use Dvix. at this point, but as I'm sure you well know there is an issue with the soundtrack unless the compression is perfect.

    I loaded the Xvid codec, and am using VirtualDub to compress, however when I load a MPG2 file that I've created with WinDVDcreator and I come up with an error saying invalid pack at position 3..

    As I'm very new to this codec, and it's features, any help would be appreciated.

    That error has nothing to do with what output codec you select. You need VirtualDubMpeg2 or VirtualDubmod to load mpg.
