  1. I know most have you have experimented with the use of TMPGEnc, so I have some questions: -
What's the best settings to use in TMPGEnc for Best Picture quality?
Also is the use of Toolame and SSRC the best for the Audio?

With different methods one can rip a movies (90 minutes) in around 4.5 hours, is this about right?

I've read all sorts of guides on VCD's but none actually tell you what u want to here.

Hmmm, as far as audio I have used toolame and tmgenc audion encoders with really no noticable difference, and toolame can have problems sometimes although I have never experienced any. but for simplicity I would stick to the built in encoder for the time being.

I am not sure what you are asking as far as ripping time, on my system for a 90 min movie it breaks down like this.

rip with smartripper= approx 10 min.
frameserve with dvd2avi= approx 10 min
encode with tmgenc= approx 1.5 to 2 hours depending on ratio, 4:3 takes longer than 16:9.

System is AMD 1600+xp, sony 16x ripper, 512meg ddr ram.

  3. Thanks for the reply, had some problems using toolame anyway so discarded it. kept telling me I had 800 hours to go and so on.
I'm running 1.4GHz AMD too, no problems with the time either. Still experimenting though.
