    hi everyone.
i have a bunch of handycam dvd discs all finalized.some are formated in dvd-rw video while others in dvd-rw vr.i want to put them all together and burn a single dvd.dont worry about the size issue.there are about 5 discs that wont exceed 4.3g.if possible i wud also like to include the menus of the dvd-rw video formatted discs plus if its possible for the vr ones too(which by default dont have any).is it possible to do it with tmpgenc.if so plz post some links to such tutorials or for any other software.no quality compromise and noob orientation preferred.

  2. Without knowing all the programs you have at your disposal I will offer you this with my limited knowledge. When you transfer your movie files to your PC, they will have a VOB extension. These are basically MPG files, so you can easily just change the extension to MPG and watch them with most video players. Tmpgenc does not support VOB files as far as I can tell, so you need to change them to MPG files. You can use tmpegenc to make one movie from all your files, plus you can cut and edit the footage also, but I use Womble Video Wizard myself so I don't know how easy that is. As for the menu files, I don't know about yours, but I never bother with the original ones as I create new ones with DVD Author Pro. You should be able to find plenty of tutorials in this great site. Hope this helps a little.

What did Sony advise you to do? When this format was introduced, Sony said these were for people who didn't want to edit their video. It was for people who just wanted an instant DVD.

Please advise us the Sony solution. We look to them for advice on the most difficult video proceesing issues.

if i import all the vob files and join them together via tmpgenc.will it result in a jitter free video,i m asking coz u dont see a smooth video when u try to add all the vob files in a playlist of ur media player instead of just using the loading up dvd option.u always see a pause when it moves towards the next item in the playlist hence pauses whenever it starts playing the nexr vob in the playlist.

and what about the dvds that i have in the vr format?

    thanks for the feedback.

    regards..

I had same problem and tried several programs but best I foud so far Ulead DVD Movie factory. It imports your VOB's and you can perform simple editing and record it to DVD. They have trial version on their website so it cost nothing to try.

  7. edDV is right in saying "Sony said these were for people who didn't want to edit their video. It was for people who just wanted an instant DVD." but from what I understand, only a videoTS file is created and I think only a Sony DVD player will play the DVD. I know that some won't play it. But of course you need to edit your movie. And yes there are pause between clips which is annoying, so editing is a must to resolve this. When I use Womble Video Wizard, the pauses don't seem to be present when I join the files.

As I said before, tmpegenc won't import VOB files so you need to try another program to import and edit the complete file (ie, getting rid of the pauses etc) I believe that in VR format the files will still be VOB. You can change them also to MPG and import them into a program like Womble Video Wizard. I don't have experience with Ulead, but as for Nero, it's a great burning program, but I wouldn't use it so editing or authoring.

If you're talking about the Pixela software, I stopped using that about a week after I got it with my handycam. Terrible program to work with. When I discovered I could transfer straight from the discs and convert the vob to mpg, it saved me heaps of time and frsutration.

  10. I have to make one correction. The VR movie is a VRO file, but as easily interchangeable to a MPG file, just like the VOB file.

righto.that pixela soft is a piece of crap

nero's done a pretty decent job for me.what i actually had in mind was to convert the vr/video formatted disc automatically via a standard option so that it may result in a fully compatible dvd video disc.i avoided the extension renaming coz even tho it contains an mpeg2 stream, the .vro file had trouble playing in players like vlc that dont recognise th vr disc n start playing accodingly, like powerdvd does.powerdvd acts as if uv inserted a normal dvd.this was probably coz the vro file is segmented into scenes when it is recorded, thus might need some other files to guide it.

now the only thing remaing is that neros not showing it in widescreen, which was the aspect ratio the video was recorded in.i m guessing ifoedit will do the trick, found this tip somewhere on the net.

thanks for all ur suggestions ppl.
