    Hi,

Im having trouble capturing video from my vcr, i get an image but it is badly distorted and unwatchable.

    Here's the problem:

Im using an ati x850xt pe video card (newest drivers) to record a vhs casette to my pc.

Ive connected a RCA (composite / cinch / yellow) cable to the appropriate input on the graphic card. Im using VirtualDub 1.6.17. I get an image but it is really bad...

Ive tried adobe premiere 2 as well, but it says "device offline"

windows movie maker, gives the same result as virtualdub

im using the ati T200 avstream capture device/driver

edit// the connection is as follows:

vcr > scart to rca adapter > rca cable > graphic card

    ive done the following checks:
used the same cable to output video to my tv (without scart adapter) - works
tried my set top box' output - same result as my vcr
used the same scart adapter + same cables to output video from my vcr to my tv's rca input - works

    Here's a screenshot from virtualdub:

Hope someone can help...any suggestions are appreciated

I have a very similar setup to you, except I have the X800XTPE. That looks just like the problem I have with VirtualDub if it selects NTSC rather than PAL B as the capture format.

Check this out in VirtualDub under: Video -> Capture Filter

Try putting it on PAL B (that's what we use in Australia, your mileage may vary based on your location).

Also, you will probably find problems not being able to use T200 driver in various apps. The last working WDM was from the Catalyst 6.2 drivers, which I am still forced to use to maintain WDM compatibility with various apps.

    hey

thx for the reply, i was using PAL when i took that screenshot.

i managed to solve the problem...

it was something strange, i just had to select "no driver" and then "T200 driver", in succession, maybe the graphic card was locked in use or something-i donno...
