Trying to make my own Grindhouse

I have a ton of sleazy trailers, movie ads & 70’s movies. I’m looking to make my own double features complete with ads & trailers in between. Whats the easiest way? I have Sony Vegas should I just import all video then cut & edit together? Should I rip the DVDs and just use the movie file?(is there a way to figure out what ripped files are just the movie?) or is there a better way?

If your source is DVD I would avoid loading it into Vegas, simply because Vegas will force you to re-encode the whole thing for no reason.

Use RipIt4Me to rip the movie only to your HDD. It will work out what is just the movie for you.

Encode your avi trailers to DVD compliant mpeg-2 using Vegas

Re-author a new disc using the ripped movies and the new trailers using GUIForDVDAuthor or what ever authoring tool you normally use (so long as you don't say : NeroVision, WinAVI or DVD Santa)
