  1. With all the talking about movies and movie theaters, it crossed my mind that this one would be a good poll.

    Come on buddy, do you????

I have hidden a couple burgers before, maybe some snacks, nothing really big....

BUT I have seen people with a BIG chicken bucket in there

    HELL YES!

It's my opinion that the concession stands are the single largest pirates in the entire movie business. $5.00 for what 7-11 sells for a buck (and makes a profit) and $5.00 for 15 cents worth of popcorn (and then have the nerve to charge another $0.50 for a squirt of butter).

    Oh, good poll.

Sure I do. Everything at the theater is "super sized" and way over priced.

Nope. Give me the biggest popcorn and soda they sell. It's part of the experience and I'm happy to support my local theatre.

  6. I always buy popcorn (and sometimes beer!) at my local movie house, but it's a cheap-seat place ($3 any show!) and I know they're not making $$$ on tix so I don't begrudge the money. Also they have great pizza.

BUT I refuse to buy any goodies from the big-box theaters, just because the prices are ridiculous. Lord knows a businessperson has to make a buck, but $5 for a large Coke?

  7. Can't remember the last time I went to a theater, but when I used to go all the time, I would just bring in a bottle of water.

I used to work at a theater. At that time (many moons ago) the theater didn't make any money on the ticket sales. All that money went to overhead (the building, electricity, air...etc), the distributors and studios. They only made a profit on concessions.

I would/will never fault someone for making money - being ripped off is another story.

Sorry, I take my eating too serious to worry about sneaking food anywhere. I buy a Coke or two for me and the ole lady and a large popcorn to share. I mean, come on people. It is only a couple of hours, either eat first or eat after, at home or a nice place out. You are only buying a snack not enough to get stuffed on. (although $15 bucks can feed two people at a lunch buffet)

I sneak in drinks to a movie theater, but not food.

Usually, I have a nice meal before or after I go to the movies.

this is what large purses are for (not to mention girlfriends/wives)!
We usually stop at Target right before so we can stock up on Jelly Belly's and M&M's.
Also, we usually have at least 4 cans of Coke with us.
If we want popcorn, we'll buy it at the theater, but we've snuck McDonald's and Wendy's in plenty of times. The burgers & fries at the theater are usually horrible.

  12. I usually eat before hand so I dont HAVE to sneak in food. If the aroma hits the right nostril at the right time, I got no problems buying a popcorn. Yes, its RETARDEDLY expensive but meh .. I go to the movies so sporadically that it doesnt matter. For drinks, I pretty much only drink water, milk, and orange juice so I will bring my own water bottle.

I do the same. I can buy a Big Mac with large fries and a large drink for less than what a bag of popcorn costs.

I'm a traditionalist (grin). When I'm in a theater, I eat theater-type junk food. Sometimes, if I have the time to spare before a movie, I'll stop off at a grocery store and buy Raisinettes. They're about half what a theater charges. Most of the time, though, I just get a large (refillable, if sold) buttered popcorn. Buying buttered popcorn does require suspension of disbelief, though. You have to believe it's really butter ... when in fact it's only partially hydrogenated soybean oil and yellow food coloring.

I put a bottle of water in a back pocket, and a bag of M&M's in the front pocket. It's all I need, all I want.

Once in a great while I might buy a bag of popcorn and a Coca-Cola. Seeing how I only go to the movies 2-3 times per year, we're talking like once every 3-4 years.

Mmmmmm Oysters! But to tell the truth I kind of like them about half steamed, just enough to give them a little bit of a chew. Vodka is good too, for cleaning windows. LOL
