Just got a Philips DVP5960. The MP3 CD-Rs I burned will not play at all.
I burned 2 Sony CDs using Itunes one 'data' one 'music' The 'music' disc plays part of the first MP3, then skips & dies (all I can do is eject). The 'data' disk will not play at all. Just dies. I burned a MP3 data disk with Nero with the same result - just dies - no music - eject is the only thing that works. The MP3 files are at the root - no folders.

MP3s play fine from a DVD-R, commercial audio CDs play fine, MP3s play fine from the USB port with a flash drive.

The player has the latest firmware. I even reflashed it again just to be sure.

Am I burning the CDs wrong for this player? They play fine on 2 different computers. Any special burn settings required? What else can I try?

Help! Tech support was no help and suggested sending it in.

    Thanks in advance.

As a follow-up to my post above, I found that MP3's within folders played fine, so I realized that it was a formatting problem with the disk. I then used Nero's MP3 disc burning routine and found that it worked fine. So I guess the player just doesn't like disks burned with iTunes or data disks for MP3 playback when there are no folders. The Nero data disk routine worked fine if the MP3s were in folders. Strange.
