I have an Xvid file that I converted to DVD NTSC using TMPGEnc. I didn't extract the audio from the Xvid file first, I just converted the Xvid file right away using TMPGEnc. After converting the file, TMPGEnc produced an .M2V and .MP2 file of the Xvid file. I used IfoEdit to author the .M2V file and I selected the .MP2 file as the audio source and it was successful. I then burned the created .VOB, .IFO and .BUP files using DVD Video in Nero. I made sure the files IfoEdit produced were in the Video_TS folder but the Audio_TS folder remained empty and I didn't copy any files to that folder. The DVD burned successfully and I can play it in my DVD player but there's no audio.
1. The guide I followed to author the DVD didn't say I had to copy the .MP2 file to the DVD when creating it in Nero but do I have to do that?
2. Also, if I try and play the .MP2 file using Windows Media Player, I can't hear no sound. Is this normal?
3. Did I maybe not convert the Xvid file correctly using TMPGEnc?
Thanks.

1. The m2v and mp2 are joined when you author with ifoedit.
2. Yes you should hear something...try also play with vlc and see if you hear anything.
Or just use DVD Flick(free) or ConvertXtoDVD instead. -
What's the audio codec in the source AVI?

The mp2 is probably just full of silence.
Take the source AVI, load it in VirtualDubMod, go to the stream list, find the AC3 audio stream and Demux it. Then use this as audio source (together with the m2v video) when you author.
Or install the AC3 acm codec to enable TMPGEnc to handle AC3 audio sources (and do it all over again).

I, have the same problem, I, have tried messing about with this program a bit and can't seem to get any sound from it at all. Also tried Canopus Pro Coder 2 but the pic is very juddery. Both are very slow. These are meant to be very good programs. I recommend using, ConvertXtoDVD, if you haven't yet tried it, its, very easy to use, good quality, and, very fast. I'm always on the look out for good converting software but, I, seem to always go back to, ConvertXtoDVD, it dose anything, I, throw at it with no probs and also has a very easy menu creation built-in. Excelent piece of software from VSO.
