  1. Hi Im not sure if this question is already answered on these forums, but I dont understand any of the lingo on here, and so Im not sure if any of them explain in laymans terms what I need. I want to burn some videos onto dvds, but the videos are too long to go on one DVD. I was told I could compress them, but I dont know how to do that. Can anyone help me, or am I going to have to cut up the videos and put them on different DVDs?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

You will have to supply more details to get better answers. The short answer is yes, however without knowing more, I can't tell you how.

Are you trying to convert to DVD ? If so, how ? With what software ?
Are you trying to burn avi files as data ? If so, how and with what software ?

Presuming we're talking about createing a Video DVD (as opposed to data DVD):
With low quality, a DVD-5 can take 6-7 hours of video.
With high quality, no more than 1.5 hours.

  4. Hi, Thanks for the quick reply (gunslinger, your picture is creepy lol) I downloaded these videos, and I want to be able to play them on my television ( I currently watch them on my computer). They are avi files, and I have the program Roxio for DVD burning. I downloaded them from Torrentspy...uhmm.. I think thats all the info I have.. Oh the blank DVDs are -Rs, the guy at Bestbuy told me those were the best, and something lik 4.7GB.
    Thanks!!

We would never . . . .no, we probably would.

Follow Mats advice and convert with ConvertXtoDVD, It is the most reliable of the simple one-click tools. When it completes, burn to DVD with Imgburn (guides found here : http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=7afd431486260f0cc5c86a0c216b742b&showforum=4 )

Note : ConvertXtoDVD is not free. The demo version will watermark your video. There is an older, free version called DivxtoDVD which is not quite as good.

You could also look at AVI2DVD or the FilmMachine as free alternatives. Not quite as clever as ConvertXtoDVD, but they do work.
