  1. I just found this off a blog posted on moviegoat.com. One of the dumbest things I have ever read.

"In case you’re a completely oblivious human being, I thought I’d let you know that DVD’s are crap. No matter what you’ve heard, this is the truth. The DVD technology was rushed (as with everything in the electronics world… and aeronautics) due to a handful of big companies fighting over the release. Because of this, there was minimal testing on this oh so beloved media and now most of the world has an average of $300-$3,000 worth of pure crap sitting in their living room - and I’m not talking about the patent leather couch either! (But that doesn’t help) The metals used in DVD technology slowly sinks over time, giving the disc a skip-free lifespan of 5-6 years max. Soon, your entire collection will be thrown into your AOL CD collection.

BlueRay is the technology industry’s way of saying “Whoops! Sorry about that. Here ya go…” Many major Hollywood distributors have already begun to offer their prestine HD titles on BlueRay but now the indie world is catching up! Edge of Light Media in Los Angeles formed as the world’s first independent BlueRay manufacturing and distribution company. This is a giant leap forward for the often Amish-minded indie film industry. Way to go guys."

moviegoat seems an apt name for such drivel. And it doesn't sound at all like the poster has some stake in the company he/she mentions. Not at all.

    "sink"?
That is a term I usually associate with gravity....
Wouldn't "sinking" be dependant on the orientation of the disc when it's stored?
Sounds like a load of shit to me.

The Internet is full of idiots. Most of them have blogs or use forums.

DVD technology was actually quite thoroughly vetted. Laserdisc was the rush, as is Blu-Ray and HD-DVD both.

Both VHS and Betamax were quite stable too, not rushed, so that's why there was such a big format war. The Blu-Ray/HD-DVD thing is a joke by comparison.
