Hi, I bought one of Lidl's Silvercrest 6510 mostly on the promise of Divx playback. It's a great player and the Divx playback is crystal clear. However, the problem is that it's not totally smooth. The picture is just ever so slightly jumpy as the frame rate is struggling to catch up. To casually look at it's barely noticable, but if you're going to sit down and properly watch it it's quite apparent and distracting.

We have an old player downstairs which does the same but much more blatently. I put this down to it's age, but the silvercrest is, as far as I can tell, a current model.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I might get better playback results with this machine? I was wondering if there is a particular way of burning the files to DVD that might help?

    Thanks for reading,
    Mark

Hi, that's a little beyond my technical know how; is there an easy way to determine the frame rate?

  4. Right click on an AVI file in Windows and select Properties. Go to the Summary tab. Near the bottom of the dialog is the frame rate.

More accurate and detailed information can be seen with programs like Media Info or GSpot.

If your files aren't 25 fps you might expect them to play a little jerky. Of course there could be a lot of other issues too. The following web site is about the Philips DVP-642 but many other players have some of the other problems:

Hi, G-Spot told me that the FPS on most of my files seems to be 23.97 FPS. These are movie files I have downloaded. I
s there anyway I can change the FPS to a higer frame rate(they play fine on my PC, but I'd like to be able to burn them to a disc and watch on my DVD player)? If I play them in NTSC mode they SEEM to play better. Does this sound right or am imagining it?

    Thanks again,
