    Not all players can be unlocked (hacked). Aside from that, MOST specialty players cannot be unlocked (specialty players include VHS/DVD combo players, auto players, personal/mobile players).

    OTOH, it's only a matter of backing up your DVD to DVD-R (a good idea anyway, if you intend to carry your DVD collection around) as all DVD rippers will remove the Region Protection Code by default.
    Then comes the TV system (PAL / NTSC) issue...
