hi, i'm new to this so excuse my lack of knowledge -i'm using dvdfab decrypter to backup my dvds to my hardrive. It creates about 40 BUP, IFO & VOB files in the video ts folder & none in the audio_ts folder. I assume this is normal?
I was going to use dvd shrink's re-author function to take out the trailers & unwanted extras, but it says if you wish to preserve the original menu functionality you should backup in full disk mode. So i presume that means if i take out trailers i wont get a scene select option at the start - or is that not the case .
Is there a reauthoring prog that will leave me the scene select or shud i get a prog that creates a menu?

The AUDIO_TS folder is normally empty. Some commercial DVDs don't include it any more. It's for a 'future' use they never got around to.

Experiment a little with Shrink. You should be able to lose the 'extras' and subtitles and second languages, along with the 'Directors commentary' without disturbing the main structure of the DVD, if you don't use or need them. I always have the original DVD, so I can dig it out for the 'extras'. If your real interest is backing up just the main movie for viewing, probably the way to go. Many DVDs will fit on a DVD-5 with little or no compression if you get rid of the 'fluff'.

There are plenty of guides for DVD Shrink on the tool page: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVD_Shrink

My method these days, even with backing up the newest videos: RipIt4Me>DVD Shrink>ImgBurn. There is also a modified version of Shrink to use ImgBurn automatically to burn to DVD. ImgBurn is one of the better burning programs out there. Best of all, it's all freeware.
