should it say it on the box? I wanna buy one that plays PAL format.

Hello Geeze, I like the Philips models as a few clicks with the remote & you can then play multiregion DVDs.
Usually, the DVD makers do not advertise this feature. The Philips Model 642 is $40.00 at any Walmart. Their model 5960 is about $80.00 and it has better picture quality - can be bought at most Best Buy stores.
Once purchased.... go to: the "Lists" on this site & look up your DVD player and copy what you need for the 'hack' - - then apply the hack..!

@ tug_hill2 - Pal playback and region free are not the same thing.
