Which tools should I use to rip subtitles from the divx files?

Dear video experts,

I'm a newbie in video conversions. I need support in the following video conversions issue:

A divx file which contains several subtitles integrated with ac3 audio but my home dvd player does not support ac3 sound. In order to correct this problem i've used avs converter to convert the sound to mp3 audio but then the subtitles are removed in the converted video file. To solve this problem, i thought to use subtitle ripper tools, so far i could not find any tool to rip them from the divx file, they can only rip subtitles from vob files.

Hopefully some of you can answer the following qeustions:

Which tools should I use to rip subtitles from the divx files?

Is there any video tool which converts avi,divx file from some audio format to another audio format while keeping the subtitles?

Is there any other tool then avisub to integrate subtitles in the avi file?
