  1. I would like to know if there is a way to rip subtitles from a DivX file ( DivX 6.2.5 codec) with 4 subtitles.

I ask this question on newbie conversions and from what I read so far may not be able to do it.
How do you convert a DivX file w/4 subtitles to AVI and get 4 subtitles external files

It's nice when someone uploads a DivX and they have a ultra certified DVD players that plays them.

But it's a problem when you don't have that kink of stand alone player and you want to convert to DVD or to avi and choose 1 subtitle to either hard code, or for standalones that can play avi with 1 subtitle, or as external sub file.

Can anyone help or at least some ideas how to do this?

    Thank you,

    Joey

I'd think you can demux them with VirtualDubMod? Or perhaps AviMux GUI?
I must say I haven't tried, but thats what I'd try first.

I don't know of any way to do it. The subtitle ripping tools that I know of were all designed for DVD. DivX files are a completely different animal.

I'm a little troubled by this. Are you going to continue to ask this question if we continue to tell you that it can't be done? Mats' answer is your only hope unless the TMPGenc DivX authoring tool, whatever it is called, offers a demuxer that can extract them. The DivX container is not well known, nor is the format that DivX subtitles use. You could consider asking this on the official DivX forum as somebody who works for DivX might know how to do this or if it even can be done.

It probably won't make you feel better, but almost nobody here has such players either.

The odds are very high that whatever your video is, it's something someone ripped from DVD and converted to DivX 6. It was pretty stupid to do this given that almost nobody owns Ultra DivX certified DVD players, but I've seen stupider things done with videos. You could always just buy the original movie on DVD or perhaps you could look for subtitles in English for it with a Google search and maybe you would get lucky and then you would just need to convert the video. If you want subtitles in all 4 languages, whatever they are, the odds are not good that a Google search will find them all unless it's a very popular movie that you could just buy yourself on DVD. If any of those subtitles do not use the Latin alphabet (ie. Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and many many others) then you most likely won't find any of those non-Latin script subtitles.
