Problem Playing .avi movie -- please look

Im trying to play a movie thats in .avi. I have windows vista x64 i believe. I tried downloaidng avi codec packs too that worked with xp but thatt doesnt work either. I downloaded vlc player and that also doesnt work. its not the file either because none of my avi files will play for some reason. any help on this issue would be great, thanks

Don't put codecs packs on your system unless you like rebuilding it.
VLC runs fine under Vista.
I suspect it is a video driver issue, but start by using g-spot to identify what the video is, and we can work from there.

I wouldn't even call it that. He got screwed over downloading "something" that isn't playable cuz it doesn't exist.
