Hi all,
I've been capturing DV with Sony Vegas from both my Panasonic GS-500 miniDV cam and Canopus ADVC-110 from a VCR. Both have been working beautifully for months.
Recently, I installed a few updates for windows and my Treo that patched the phone for the recent DST switch (none of which worked, but that's a different story). Sat down to capture some footage from the cam last night. When I plug in the firewire, the computer recognizes the cam, even asks me if I want to capture with Vegas, but when I open Vegas, it makes the 'disconnect' sound and the capture utility doesn't recognize the cam- only fails to open the Hauppague PVR WinTV device. Same deal when I try the Canopus.
Thinking windows botched something or created conflict with those Treo updates, I system restored to a date before that junk went in, but still no luck.
Strangely, I CAN capture with Windows Movie Maker, but only when I select it from the autoplay dialog when the cam is plugged in. If I open it sperately, WMM doesn't 'see' the cam either.
So what gives?
Also, if I have to resort to capturing in WMM, is there any quality difference vs Vegas?
Thanks for any suggestions!
