So this has been bothering me a bit, hopefully someone can shed some light on my issue

I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 9.0.
I've edited plenty of videos in the past, and I always record and render in 1920x1080 HD (Of PC gaming, not film)
However, for some unexplained reason, my videos suddenly export with a thick black border around them. And i'm using the EXACT same settings as always. I'm recording at the same resolution, i'm exporting with the same settings...

What videos usually look like after rendering:

And how they are coming out now:

The raw video files for both projects pictures above are .avi files, recorded at 1920x1080 @ 45fps. They were both edited in Sony Vegas 9 using the HD 1080-60i (1920x1080, 29.970 fps) preset. They were both rendered with the same exact custom settings preset, which are (in a nutshell):
    Mode: CBR
    Format: Windows Media Video 9
Image Size: Custom (1920x1080; Pixel aspect ratio: 1.333 (HD 1080))
    Frame rate (fps): 29.970 (NTSC)
    Seconds per keyframe: 5
Override default compression buffer (seconds): 8
    Video smoothness: 100% (Sharpest)

So again, for whatever odd reason, using videos with the same exact attributes, rendering with the same exact settings, it's adding those crazy black bars to either side of the video and kind of smooshing it together in terms of width. (The height seems to be exactly the same)

It's also worth noting, that I can watch one of the raw clips, and it will look perfect. Yet if I import that clip into vegas, and don't edit a thing about it, it still renders with those black bars. So it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the way i'm editing the clips (which I thought it was initially, as I was using pan/crop during this video)
Also, if it matters, after messing around in Photoshop, it appears the original videos were 1920x810 (the video image without the widescreen black bars on top and bottom). The new, buggy ones, are 1440x810.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I don't have the slightest clue as to why my videos are suddenly doing this.

You need to set the project settings to match the media. Project is probably set to square pixel. Click the little "match media" icon in the top right corner.

    Wow, I love you.
Not only did this work; my videos look even better than before o.o They are actually 100% fullscreen now. Not just HD widescreen with the black bars on top/bottom.
    Thank you millions!
