Hi,
Right now I'm using DVD Decrypter and avi.NET to get excellent result encoding normal DVD's but I also have some DVD's which were shot in HD. Is there anything extra I can do to extract the best possible quality from the DVD's or should I just continue like I have been doing? Note: these are not HD-DVD's just normal DVD's with footage shot in HD.
Thanks!

in what video format and container? what files do you see on the dvd?
standard dvd-video can't be in hd format. -
The footage was shot in HD and on the DVD it appears as a VOB (MPEG2) file.

The footage may well have been shot on a HD camera, but when it was converted to DVD it became standard definition mpeg-2, just like any other DVD. If you want the highest possible quality, leave them alone. if you want to convert them to avi for playback on a standalone player, use the highest permissible bitrate, and split the files if they get to big.
Otherwise, convert them like any other, and live with the results.Read my blog here.
