Saw the thread on Joe Satriani, and had to offer two major suggestions. Trust me on these:
1. Get a copy of the Audacity (free) audio editing software, and use it to delete about 20 seconds worth of crappy fluttery stuff, from "Satch's Boogie". Splice together the rest, and that song becomes one of the greatest ever, for rock guitar aficionados.
2. Next, get Eric Johnson's "Venus Isle", and use Audacity to fade in and bring the volume up, as the monk-style chanting ends, at the start of the first song (about 2 minutes in). If anyone can figure out why Eric put that chanting stuff in, at the very start of an otherwise truly great, great album, plz explain; it leaves me totally baffled, except maybe he just wanted to hold himself to a small and little-known cult-like following.
Anyway, my playlist with Eric & Joe is my all-time favorite, and my most frequent go-to list, whenever I go running. Together, they're awesome. And Audacity is a great, great piece of software, for editing audio. If anyone knows a link to a "how to" forum, please post it.

Eric Johnson has been around for years. Been listening to him for a good 15 years anyway. Ah via Musicom is a great album. He also had a wonderful appearance on Austin City Limits (not sure how many times he has been on ... I only know of one personally).
Anywho, one of the best guitar players I have had the pleasure of watching.
