  1. I have a new 32"HDTV.....
I dont have an HD-DVD PLAYER or HD-DVDs...
I downloaded "Planet Earth in HD episode 11" (2.6Gb for 48mins)....
Now my DivX DVD player plays .AVI/.MPEG/.XviD/.DivX etc files and AVIcodec says that "it" (Planet Earth .AVI) is converted by XviD (which normally plays on the player) ....
    (1.87 GB, 5523 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 1280*720 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported)

    and the sound....
    (Audio : 132 MB, 384 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 6 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM, Unsupported

I burnt the AVI file as normal onto DVD (whilst I know I wont get full HD quality but was hoping the upscaling would still give near HD quality) but the DivX DVD Player says HD not supported....?!?!

Is the DVD player detecting its an HD file from the Audio ? the video file seems like it should play regardless
but AVIcodec reports the sound as unsupported (it plays ok on VLC player but WMP11 needs codec and plays without sound...)

Is thier anyway of converting OR changing the sound from DVM to AC3/MP3...? then the DivX DVD player would
play the file (obviously not in HD) but upscaled....

    can anyone help....?
    THX
