    Hey guys,

Hoping someone can help with this one. First off, I use a Sony HC-1 camera, have a Sony Vaio rs310. Just under a GB of ram.

Here is my question. I've been shooting some events in HD, importing to Vegas 7, then converting the whole thing to MPEG2. Then I import that into DVD Architect. Why is my quality good, but not great? Is it because I am downconverting within Vegas? Should I use the feature built into the camera to do this? Or is it better if I just shoot in DV since that is what I ultimately render it as anyway?

I'm just kind of lost on how I need to set the preferences in Vegas prior to my video import. Maybe I'm doing something that is making the video quality suffer a bit. Typically, I'm using my footage and also footage from a friends JVC GR-HD.

    Thanks for any help.

You aren't saving an HDV master for the future? If not just shoot DV.

If an HD master is wanted, you could shoot a test video and compare the camcorder downscale (project settings DV format) to Vegas software downscale (project settings HDV). Make your choice based on results but keep the HDV tapes for the future.
