    Greetings Folks

I know the answer is somewhere in the forums but searching on "DVD" or "MPG" or "MP3" returns way too many hits

I have some backups of the Friends TV series on my hard drive. I've tried DVDShrink and VideoReDo without any luck.

I would like to shrink the episodes into MPG format with MP3 audio so I can play them through my Hauppauge MediaMVP (which does not support AC3).

Can I get a simple easy solution please.

  2. I believe it supports MP2 audio also so any of these encoders should work:
    Ulead VideoStudio
    DVDx

What format are they at present? I'm sure you realize that MPEG with MP3 audio is non-standard and won't play on anything but a computer. But if you really want to, try VirtualDub Mod and using the Lame MP3 codec you could convert the audio to MP3, depending on it's present format. But then you would have to mux it back with the video. (If a muxing program will permit that.) Will that MediaMVP support Xvid? That would be a much better choice with MP3 audio.

Or you could use MPEG-1 Layer2 audio, then it would play on most settop players also, with either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 video.

Well what I want to do is play these episodes through my Hauppauge MediaMVP which I thought was MPG/MP3.

But also what I really need to do is shrink the end result.

I do know that it plays divx but with divx it is a lot more jerky so prefer not to use that.

Well I've downloaded/installed and tried ulead videostudio. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I can not import the DVD folder and so this is not easy software. Moving on to DVDx and see if it is easy (and works).
