I hear Vista has some kind of transfer, or ... migrate ... ? ... option...
So, apparently, or so ive heard, i can use this to transfer my programs and settings from my xp pc to my vista pc via local network or removable media.
When I get my new Vista PC, i may not have immediate access to my xp pc. so would i be able to start using vista for a day or two, then transfer my xp stuff? would my stuff transfer ok to my new vista profile or would there have to be another one?
kthxbye

The best option is to Contact Microsoft and ask them directly.

It's the other way around ... there was a patch for xp released to fix an issue with the setting's transfer from xp to vista ... more noteable for vista 64 .
You do the transfer from xp to backup media , and import that on the vista system .
No , you cannot transfer program's this way ... they must be installed on the new vista system from scratch ... and there is no guarantee , that these program's will either work or even function correctly .
