I am a newbie to video editing and can edit video segments using well configured apps such as VideoRedo Plus and can compile several videos into a DVD with menu using nero Vision and can usually shrink them to 4.6 GB with DVD Shrink for burning to DVD without problems.

On two occassions recently, even though the video segments in the DVD compilation would play OK in VideoRedo after editing, and using Nero Vision compiled OK and converted to VOB files,
when I tried to shrink them to 4.6 GB, DVD Shrink reached a point in the compression process and would not continue because of some sort of coding error I assume.

Are there any simple apps that you can run to check that the VOB files are in the correct format and error free for DVD compatibility and shrinking.

Weird. Try running FixVTS on the files before you send them to DVD shrink. Or run QuickStreamFix from VideoRedo on the MPGs before you send the files to Nero.

BTW, is the drive that you are shrinking the files on Fat32 or NTFS ? You can find out by right-clicking on the icon of the drive.
