I have an avi file that has a weird blurry line at the bottom of the image. When I open the avi into full screen mode it eventually becomes a solid green line and then disappears. It's not embedded in the file. I suspect my codecs are out of date. The last one I installed were the Gordian Knot Pack (I think). Where can I obtain codec updates?

Most any needed codec is available from our 'Tools' page. You can use Gspot 2.60 to identify the codecs you need. I wouldn't use codec packs like K-lite if you value your system. Just install the ones you need and no more.

You can also try using VLC Media Player. It has it's own codecs for most any type of video. If it plays the file properly, that's a good test to show if your installed system codecs are messed up.

Codec Sniper can be used to remove damaged codecs.

    Yes , dont install codec pack's ... there a devil .

http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit_en.htm to check for directshow issues ... better than codec sniper .

Update your video graphics drivers ... and while your at it , your motherboards one's as well .

It dosent mater that vlc has it's own codec's ... if your vga drivers aren't up for it , it stays that way .
