I have a vhs to dvd recorder, however, I had tried to backup a movie call hellraiser and received the following message:Cannot Copy-Copy-Protected. I would like to know if there is a vhs to dvd recorder on the market to bypass the macrovision or whatever anti-piracy code that is on this tape. What is the best way to backup this kind of vhs movie tape to dvd?

You need a device to remove the macrovision signal from the tape on the way through. This means running external leads from the VHS side, to the device, then back the DVDR. This device could be a specialist cheapy, through to an expensive timebase corrector. Google will find them.

Gunslinger, what is the name of the device you're talking about that would remove the macrovision protection? What brand of time base corrector do you use?

I have a Datavideo TBC-1000, but I don't use it to remove macrovision, I use it to get clean transfers from VHS tapes.
Something like this might be cheaper : http://www.firebird-systems.com/graphics/videographer/videographer.shtmlRead my blog here.
