    The MPEG1 file has subtitle. What should I do to keep the subtitle?

    Nothing. If the mpg includes subs, it's hard subs, and will carry over to the AVI (or any other format you encode it to). The hard part comes when and if you don't want the subtitles...

    I was checking with MPC and did not see any subtitle in the Play menu. That's probably why.
