  1. Hey all,

I was trying to convert an mpg into a xvid avi. I have used AutoGK(V 2.27) for a long time, and it has always performed well for me. However today when converting (just used it yesterday and it was fine), it crashed during the first pass. Rebooted, and tried again. Same thing.

So after several attempts, I chose to let agk set the width automatically (had set to 720, as it has been for over 150+conversions), and magically, it won't crash anymore. Tried it on several files, and if I leave it to auto resolution, it works fine.

I am typically encoding 720x480 mpg-2 files (captured TV) and depending on the length of the show, am using the 175 or 350 mb output size. I have not changed/modified any of the setting since yesterday. I have also uninstalled/reinstalled.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

I always specify an output setting of 640 (Fixed Width = 640) and I never have a problem.

Sometimes when programs "act up" you can "fix" it by uninstalling and then install again.

  3. I would suggest uninstalling the version you have now and upgrade to the newest version of AutoGK, which is now up to version 2.40, you can get it at www.autogk.me.uk

When I made my post I meant to look up the version number to see if the version in use by ixlspecific was the newest or not but I got lazy LOL

Anyways you (ixlspecific) should definitely upgrade to the newest version! I just checked and my version of autoGK is indeed 2.40 and I've been using it (in fact just a couple of days ago) without any issues.

What FIXED WIDTH resolution are you trying to pick? I use 640 with no problems.

I was trying to keep the resolution at a fixed width of 720. Some of the vids I capture are HDTV at 1280x720, and I was reducing those to a fixed width of 960. This is not a big deal, as the "Auto" setting still works fine, and does not reduce the resolution width that much. Just frustrating more than anything else. I guess I'm just a control freak...
