I've copied over several old VHS tapes to DVDR's on my LG RH1777 DVD Recorder. Checked each and plays fine on that unit. Now, find none of them play on my other LG DVD player or portable player. VERY frustrating! This has also happened with a video which I burned via the DV connection from my video camera. Any suggestions?

  2. I would suggest the folowing procedure:
    1. Copy the burned video files to the computer
    2. Demultiplex to elementary audio video streams.
    3. Reauthor as a standart DVD-Video (VIDEO_TS)
    4. Burn to disc.
Now the problem is I don't know how to accomplish this on Mac. Well, good luck.

It sounds as if you didn't "finalize" those DVDs after
recording. Gotta do it or only the producing machine
will be able to read them.

Either they are unfinalized or your burner is mechanically way out of spec.

You didn't say what brand of DVD or +/- R or RW.

What does the file structure look like on a Mac and on a PC? Can VLC play it using Open Disc with DVD Menus checked?

FYI: Recordable media aren't compatible with some machines.
However, you might try re-authoring your discs on your computer and see if that works...

Also, always use quality discs marked "Made in Japan." Taiyo Yuden is the best, IMO.
