got a weird problem that just started coincidentally after installing Napster.
don't know if that has anything to do with it. I've since uninstalled napster but it's still not working.
I have an Acer Aspire 5000 laptop. Everything is fine except the dvd-rw.
when I put in a prerecorded cd or cd-r - the pc doesn't recognize it.
It says there is no disc detected. Usually, a window comes up asking what I want to do - play with Windows Media player or whatever.
If I put in a dvd movie or a blank dvd-r, it works just as it should.

what the devil could be wrong.
any troubleshooting tips would be fantastic.
I have 52 processes running in the Task Mgr but I have no idea if any of these are the problem.
How else do you troubleshoot?
