  1. I have read segments here and related sites and am so lost! I'm from the dark ages and what I am trying to do is capture tv shows using ati aiw radeon video card. So far captured most in ntscvcd setting and tried to edit commercials out using ulead videostudio 4.0 that came with video card. After rendering the voices are not in synch. Thought videostudio 5.0 might be better so downloaded trial and it would only do 30 seconds of video so uninstalled it and reinstalled 4.0 and now it won't read files. Do I need to encode the video recorded this way? What size, bitrate, etc. do I need to use to get good quality and put the most on cdr. What software to edit and can video rendered with synch problems be fixed? System is an Athlon 850,biostar m7vkb mb, 512 pc133, soundblaster live value, 40 gb wd ata66, ati aiw radeon 32ddr, easy cd creator 5.0 platinum to burn, hp 9910I cdr/dvd. Just got a rv41 panasonic dvd player and reading charts it should play vcd and from other posters probably svcd. Should I try svcd? I am at idiot level and all help will be appreciated and please have patience as all these settings have head spinning.

I used to capture TV show with ATI AIW Radeon into NTSC VCD like you did.

Check Menu on your left under HOW TO / EDIT you will see many ways to edit the video file.

Here how I edit/cut/merge the video file with TMPGnc (without any trouble with sound).

    BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL FILE FIRST

Open TMPGnc click Files/Mpeg tools /Merge & cut
Add the original file in (ex. drive:\path\tvfull.mpg)
    select output file (ex. drive:\path\part1.mpg
    Highlite the added file
click Edit (this will popup another window)
(Play the movie then pause then drag the pointer back and forth first to correct the bug in TMPGnc)
Drag pointer to where you want to begin . Mark start point
Drag pointer to where you want to end . Mark end point
click OK (this will close the popup window)
click Run to generate part1.mpg (this take a while depend on the size of your file and where you start. So wait for completion)
Then try again with different output
select output file (ex. drive:\path\part2.mpg) for the next one
    and repeat EDIT again.
When all parts are cut and saved I remove the original file
add in order all new cut files
select final output file (ex. drive:\path\clean.mpg)
click run to merge all cut files into one clean file

When I have a clean video file I can burn it into a VCD disk (I use NERO. How to burn it into a VCD is another story. Check HOW TO again for the answer. If you want step by step then post you request)

PS. Read the VCDHELP how to template for more detail !!!!
