What DVD-R disks to buy in Australia. Probably have same names world wide.

Old topic but asked again due to changing disk quality such as Ritek once good now dropping quality apparently.

What are some good value names from good manufacturers and what are the disk ID and manufacturer details you look for on the disk.

Tayuo Uden and others are good I believe. What are label names?

Find a reputable dealer who sells genuine Taiyo Yuden discs...an example in America would be rima.com.
Panasonic DVD-R's MADE IN JAPAN are also Taiyo Yuden. I used to buy them quite often until I found a European source for genuine TY's in larger quantities.

Verbatim-> MCC codes. I'm not as enamored with the TY's, especially the 16X -Rs (TYG03).

Wouldn't that depend on your recorder? I know pioneer posts a list of compatible media with successful write times included.

Sad. Ritek used to be a Good/Decent brand in the days when media was still mildly Expensive, but in the last few years they've taken a nosedive in quality. The last few batches i tried a while back were trash.

I recommend Tayou Yuden. One of the Best quality brands from what i've seen, and as media costs have come down, even TY is pretty cheap. There is now ZERO reason to settle for 3rd tier media like Ritek anymore.

I started buying TY DVD+Rs from newegg.com, backed up all my older Riteks(which WERE degrading with time!) to fresh Tayou Yudens, and haven't looked back since.

Last week I bought Verbatim +R from Harvey Norman in Brisbane $18 \ 50 tub, they are MCC disks .... I believe the -R are also MCC (Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation).

You will not have any problems with their disks.

  7. I think the general consensus(sp?) is that Taiyo Yuden are about the best you can get for single layer. For dual layer I believe Verbatim is recommended the most.
