  1. I finally got dual layer audio avi files to play in this player, and now im trying to get subs to work.

    I have tried muxing in .srt files and then it wont play the file, tho I am using AVI-MUX GUI to do it, as I have no other way of muxing in. VDub seems not to mux it in properly as when I mux it in then check the streams its not there.

    Has anyone successfully got subs working with this player? If so some help would be great.

  2. Sure.

    I just use a SRT file of the same name. Must use a short file name. I don't think it can play SRT files over a certain size however.

    That's why I bought a 5960, it plays all sorts of SUB formats.

    You're supposed to load the subs first from the menu by pushing the subtitle button & then you load the film. Then you can use the sub button when playing a film.

  3. Do they HAVE to be the same name?

    I have a srt file seperate from the file but when I click the sub file in the menu I get the "STOP" hand in the top left

    Yes, they need to be the exact same name.

    In the menu, highlight the srt file and press the subtitle button. You should get a message "subititle file loaded" or similar. Then highlight the movie and press play.

    @Afterlife:
    Try AviSub (I haven't used it myself but it looks like it might work for adding the sub stream to the AVI file):
    http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAviSub.html

    And it's free.

    Good luck

  7. Squash thanks for the link, but that program doesnt seem to actually add the sub file as a stream layer, but actually produces a .divx file which is nothing more than a subtitle file used in conjunction with a avi file, just bypasses the need to select the sub on divx6 players, mine isnt and I dont think there is a firmware upgrade to support divx6 on my player.

    Ah well.

  8. No, thats why they make those 5960s they are divx6 certified. Load multilanguage subs automatically.
