    Can anyone help,
I've had thisd prblem come up before as regards burning, there was not enough phsical memory then so i bought another memory stick, so i've now got 256mb,that was only last week, and when i put the new memory stick in it was burning ok.

But now i think i've got the same problem as it shows below, can anyone sugest what is best and is there a way to get rid of some of the memory that i'm using, but i can't uderstand why it is ok one minute than in a matter of day's it's back to normal. Thanks

You are getting buffer underruns on your burner. First thing to try is to deframents your hard drives. What in the world is a 100GHZ processor that you mention in your profile? No such thing not even in your dreams!

Doesn't seem to know what to do with your media (unrecognizable?)

(IMHO, 512MB is the least I would use with Windows XP, less hard drive grinding when it needs memory)

Would it be a good idea to do a memory optimizer to see if i'm leaking any memory somewhere.

Just wondering if you started the problem burn's after doing other things on the pc .

    A 100ghz ... I want one of those briskets ... lol

There are tool's for testing the memmory > http://www.memtest.org/#downiso ...
    Grab the second iso below * Memtest86+ V1.65 (10/01/2005) * on that page .
Extract it from zip , burn the iso using imgburn , restart pc (it's 900kb , tiny)
Set bios to boot from cdrom , disable all other boot option's , (the iso cd is still in the cd/dvd tray) , save , and system will reboot .

From there on watch the screen for info regarding how to use it .

After , depending how it requires the exit function , restart the pc , and head back into bios , and reset those drive setting's back to what they were beforehand ... remove the disc , save , and your back in the os once more .

Then it's up to you too determine what the memmory result's are ... you can alway's get help here .

    ----------------------

Shut down the system , take the power cord out of the back after you have turned it off .
    Remove both memory chips .
Check the contact's are clean , and the slot's , then swap them around , and refit .

    ----------------------

If you defraged the hard drive ... I wonder what the system swap file is , as this has to change when extra memory is added .
Start , settings , control panel , system , advanced tab , performance settings button , advanced tab ... what dose it list as the system doing here .

You might want to set it too system managed size , and try once more .

You have little memory and only 24mb free.

You should consider a proper upgrade to at least 512mb.

You should check your virtual memory size and consider increasing it - assuming you have enough hard disk. This should be on the internal hard disk.

If you are burning files from your external hard disk, that could also be contributing to underruns.

You might consider replacing this antique system rather than further upgrades. An 18gb system drive is not very large when manipulating 4gb or greater movies. An external USB or firewire drive is a slow solution to more storage and does not solve all system disk needs. It particularly bad when combined with other underpowered system components.

XP had many features which will clutter your primary disk drive with files that will decrease your performance. You have little to spare.

Nero is caching to your primary drive.

Do you have any free space on drive C

I've just purchase another memory stick so i've now got 640mb,i've got 9.8gb of space on my internal harddrive, and 31.4gb on my external hdd, also since i've put the new memory stick in my pc seems to be running faster.
I've also got spyware doctor running in the background that i installed last week, come to think of it thats when i satrted to run low on memory.
Is it possible that that could be taking up a lot of memory?would i be better off installing adware that does not run in the background and uninstalling spyware doctor.

  8. If you are worried about memory leaks, open Task Manager and select the Processes tab. Click on the Mem Usage column to sort by memory usage. Sit back and watch. If you see a process continually increasing memory usage, that's a likely a leaker. (Don't worry about the column named Page Faults).
