    Hi

Most often after a time you find somewhere the answer to your problem on the Net. Bit with this one, i vannot find a solution, also because it is difficult to explain.

I'will try to explain. Whenever i play a dvd on my pc, with some files or DVD's I see multiple columns and in each column different horizontal stripes. The colours in the columns and stripes are from the movie. So I see that the the movie is fluently playing, but i cant see it.

It does not make a different whether it is a dvd or an image. And the problem does never occur when i just play a normal avi or mpeg file, etc.Only sometimes with a DVD

I'll explain what kind of computer I have got and what i've done so far.

    Windows XP Professional Sp2
    AMD Athlon 64 3800+
    Clockspeed 2,41 Ghz, 1 Gb
    Asus ATI Radeon, Extreme AX800XL

Ive got alle the codecs, I even checked with gspot which codecs where needed and ive got them. I do.
I tried to use VLC mediaplayer. An other DVD players. But the same results still occur.
I tried the files and DVD of multiple movies on another PC and the DVD in a normal Televisio-DVD player. THen they do work just fine.
I ve updated my driver. Still no result.

If you have to know more informatien, please ask. If its difficult, tell me where to find it. I hope you have a solution. Already thanks.

Run dxdiag.exe and on the display tab turn off DirectX acceleration and try playing then. If it plays ok, then it's either your video driver or your Windows DirectX software. DirectX 9.0C is the most current, and you can get it at Microsoft downloads.

  3. You might have a DRM file. You need license to play it.

Directshow filter corruption ... if indeed the correct video driver update package has been installed correctly .

Q : Did you "uninstall" the previous vga driver's and then "reboot" the system before installing the updated driver's ?

Go here : http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit_en.htm ... download and run this tool ... and read the site info on the operation's it perform's .

Should have it up and running quickly ...

    Hi

Wow, thkz for all these reactions. Also very quick. Well.
First the one of olyteddy. Tkz for your reply. I have turned off the DirectDraw thing in the DirectX window. And I can play the DVDs now, which I could not before on this PC. So you are in the right direction, although, without DirectX, I cannot use programs like Windows MediaPlayer and Nero SHowtime. It worked with VLC mediaplayer.

I already have DirectX 9.0C and i had the latest driver. So maybe, uninstall and install all...?

Dont know what handyguy is talking, maybe i find out. I dont have a drm file to my knowledge.

And BJs also tkz for your reply. I used the program, and there were 3 corrupt files. Only after changing them, the problem was not solved. So i dont think that is the solution. Tkz anyway.

Conclusion. Uninstall DirectX, Uninstall, Video driver, REinstall both. Or is that not a good idea?

    Tkz for helping!!

You can reinstall DirectX with uninstalling.

For your video drivers, just switch to a generic or plug and play video driver. Uninstall the drivers using add/remove programs. Reboot and install the new drivers.

    Hi

Tkz for all your support. It works now... let me explain.

My fan of my video cart was maken noise(the sound of an airplane ) and I exchanged it for a newer version at the store(extra payment). SO....new video card, new driver etc. Unfortunatly the problem did still exist. So I went looking for the DirectX. If you ask me, it was only an update of DirectX, but I installed it anyway. No questions were asked about uninstall. But I continued and , et voila, problem solved.

TKz Krispy Kritter, Bjs, Handyguy and olyteddy.
(p.s. how do you ppl come up with all these nicks?!)
