  1. I have some Xvid most of them are 640x272 when I try to convert them to Ntsc 720x480 The picture looks horrible during fast moving scenes almost to a point where it gets pixelated to death. I am not sure what 640x272 is equivelent to for dvd spec could someone please give me some advice. Video mode for these xvid seems to be set to progressive, do I also select progressive for the output file or interlaced or 3:2 pulldown playback. Thank you for your help guys.

There are plenty of guides for using tmpgenc if you look at tmpgenc's tools page, or search the guides section. I haven't used tmpgenc in years, so I can't remember specifics for resizing, however I do remember tmpgenc's resizing to be limited and soft.

Personally, I would use FitCD to produce an avisynth script that uses Lancsoz4 to resize (FitCD actually only allows for LancsozResize, but you can edit this before changing, instead of using the softer bicubic or bilinear filters). You can then load the avisynth script into tmpgenc instead of the avi file and it will be the correct resolution already.

NB : if you haven't already, make sure you install avisynth.
