    hi, i just put a new pc together runin windows XP. my dvd drive works fine, except for when i want to play a DVD, media player / power dvd just crashes as soon as they open.

    cant figure out why .... anyone know what the problem is ?

    Put a web cam in front of your screen and post the video somewhere.

    You can determine if it is codec related by installing either MplayerGUI or VideoLan and trying to play your video.

    Then I suspect, uninstalling/reinstalling Power DVD should also correct it.
