What I am trying to do is take several clips from different movies to create a "fake" trailer... just for fun.

I've been only partially successful in bringing editable files into Ulead VideoStudio 10. I've used both DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink to decode the files with limited success with each.

Both of those programs break down the DVD into multiple files. Typically, the first file (which would be the first part of the movie - say, 30 minutes worth) plays flawlessly. But, the second and many subsequent files won't show anything but a still frame with no sound. The indicator shows that the clip is playing, and when I pause the playback and restart, the clip will advance to the point of the pause, but will just continue to show a still frame at the point where it was paused.

I hope I explained that somewhat clearly, and thanks to all in advance for any help you can provide.

Also, if anyone has a better (or proven) method of doing what I'm trying to do, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Guy

After playing around with VideoStudio some more, I still don't know why the problem exists, but I did find that if I reduce the speed of the clip to 99 (from 100... the program has a sliding scale), or even increase it, the clip plays just fine.

Just thought I'd post that in case anyone else happens to run across this particuar problem.

    Case closed.

You may have run into new issue's with late dvd's .

Ripit4me or dvdfab or pgcedit + plugins to negotiate around these issue's ... then you can process the clips without issue .

Just be aware , the issue may also exist simply on the fact that the clip's may not be in the same format ... ie 4:3 vs 16:9 when in ulead ... if first clip play's , and second is not same , it may just trigger this problem ... then there's the audio format to consider which again dose the same thing ...

You have your homework too do ...

I have run into a problem with much newer videos so, yeah... if I want to resolve that I do have a little homework.

In my post above I mentioned a reduction - or increase - in the clip speed handled the problem for the most part, but I was mistaken. The sliding scale was actually for the clip volume. So apparently, increasing or decreasing the clip volume fixes things.

    Weird...
