I have been recording episodes of The Backyardigans so I can put them on a DVD. Each episode is approx. 23 minutes. I have been capturing the video with my mini DV camcorder hooked up to my TIVO and then transferring it to my computer to edit. (I realize a stand alone DVD recorder would be idea for this but I don't have one yet) I have 12 episodes. I would like to get at least 6 of them + a menu on a DVD with good quality. I have been using Premiere to capture the video and encode with the Adobe Main concept encoder. Anyone out there have any alternative suggestion as to what software and or bitrate I need to use to achieve this? Any help would be appreciated.

Use a bitrate calculator, https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=1#1 , to calculate the average bitrate. Around 4000kbit/s would I guess (6x23min=138min) and it should look pretty good. Have you tried the mainconcept in premiere? it is pretty good. You can also try cinemacraft plugin for premiere or standalone mpeg encoders lika canopus procoder or tmpgenc plus or quenc.

Thanks Balrick for the tips. Yes,I have used the Premiere encoder and I like it.
So, when I use the bitrate calculator, would I add up the total minutes of all of the videos and input that? Or would I just put in the minutes of each episode. They are approximately 23 minutes each. I have considered using DIKO to encode all of them at once and create a menu with DVD Styler. Or is there a better way?

    Thanks again.
