  1. i have a troublesome avi that plays in quicktime without any audio, i've installed the latest codecs from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/ without any luck, it plays fine in vlc and in mplayer...i've tried using divxDr but i get an error message, i've tried fixing with dvision but neither mpeg2works or ffmpeg can convert this to a DVD compliant file...the file uses Divx 5.0 for the video track and .mp2 for the audio portion...i've tried avidemux but it won't launch under 10.4.8...

  2. First install A52 /AC3/ [PPC/Intel] and Perian [Universal binary - PPC/Intel] QuickTime components and then try MPEG2Works again...More about DIvX > DVD using MPEG2 Works you can find here.

  3. no luck with QT after the new codecs, but the sound now plays in MPEG Streamclip 1.8 which it didn't do before...i did have luck with Dvision when i extracted the audio which saved it as an mp3, however the file was now out of sync so i am going to try to re-encode the whole clip and hopefully that will allow it to sync back up...

You can reencode the audio track only with D-Vision.
Tools > .avi and mpg. reencoding > re-encode audio track only
