    I already have quicktime pro but it does a poor job in many cases. (sticking and/or stuttering at join points on playback)

    I don't need any heavy duty features or effects, just simple cutting and pasting of avi clips together.

    It seems like Final Cut would be overkill, but I'll get it if it's really the right tool for the job.

    Was wondering if there are any other lightweight editors that would serve my minimal needs.

  2. mpeg streamclip can edit avi's as can Dvision...
