Howdy,
I recorded some shows on my Comcast DVR and would like to burn a DVD of them so I can free up some space on the hardrive.
What type of DVD recorded would I need to get so that I can play it back on any DVD player?
Thanks in advance.![]()

Well if you are talking about a settop dvd recorder that would sit next to your dvr basically any unit would do. Though there is an outside chance some of your progamming may have macrovision in it which would need a "blocker" device to remove it.
But basically all you would have to do is hook up the audio video cables from the out of the dvr box to the in on your dvd recorder. Have a disc ready in the dvd recorder set to the input line and press record on the dvd recorder and play on your dvr. Then you are all set. You will have to "finalize" the recordable to dvd to be able to play it in other players. Also if you have a computer dvd burner you could copy it to your computer and edit out the commercials and make a new dvd.Donatello - The Shredder? how much capacity does your DVR have? I've mulled over getting one. Can it record all channels, I would be interested in the HD channels.

You could also try contacting your cable provider to see if they have or will be getting the new DVR units with built in DVD Recorder.
Otherwise, and standalone DVD Recorder will work. Just connect the video output from your DVR into your recorder.Google is your Friend -
Thanks for the info!
My Comcast DVR does not hold that much content. (That's part of the problem - 15 hrs of HD content/60 hr of standard content.
I have an older DVD player/burner (3 - 4 years old) which only allow me to play back on the same brand player. (Pioneer)
I may have to buy a new one.
(Any recommendation?)
