I am a newbie at conversion, so please explain things like I know nothing.

Okay, I've read that autoGK is for the newbie who don't know much. However, I think the tutorial is a bit lacking. I mean immediately I'm stuck on step 1, inputing the file. As a matter of fact, all tutorials thus far whether it's autokg, divx converter, avi.net, etc. do not explain adequately on how to input a ripped dvd. I have my movie ripped onto my drive in a folder, I think these are called .vob files and there are many of them. Now when it says to input file, what exactly do I input? I tried inputing the file folder, but it won't. Instead, it opens up the folder and I have to choose 1 file to open. I don't get it. What about the TS or the .BUP file? I'm just a little perplexed on this first step and how it all works. I've succesfully converted movies using Nero Recode. That's because the first step is pretty simple, I just choose full movie or just main movie. I then import the whole folder containing the ripped files and the program magically sort things out for you. Now all I have to do is set my preferences. But with AutoGK and AVI.net does not import the whole folder and it doesn't sort things out for me. Instead of importing the folder, it opens up the folder and forces me to choose 1 individual file. Which of the ripped files do I choose? How does choosing just 1 file work? What if I want menus? Which file do I choose then? What if I just want the main movie?

Thanx in advance for any advice you may have!

I think the main movie is usually the first IFO file, as for the menu's i'm not sure why you would want to convert them?

If you are wanting a even simpler program for DVD>Xvid or Divx, try FairUse Wizard. There is also a 'celtic_druid free version' available if you follow that link to the 'Tools' Page. AutoGK gives you more control, but also a little more complication.
