I've been trying to get my tv to show what my desktop is showing, but I can't get it to work for good. I had been having problems with the ATi drivers... they wouldn't let me right click the TV icon to enable it. Well... I randomly restarted just now and now I can right click the tv and choose "Extend desktop onto TV", but my TV still just shows blue.

I know the connection exists because I had my TV displaying my desktop a couple of times by dragging the tv icon onto the main monitor icon and clicking "Swap Devices". My TV would then show my desktop in pretty good quality.

Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about:

Also, here's what I'm talking about when I'm enabling the TV:

Here's a ghetto diagram of the hardware setup:

Anybody know how I can get my freaking desktop to display on my TV? :[ Thanks in advance.

    Computer off from start .

Connect cable from pc to tv
Tv on , switch to av channel
    Start pc .
Choose clone display (showing pc monitor and tv) ... not pc monitor and pc monitor (depends on driver package version)

If no av on tv , consider pass though via vcr instead .

As soon as the pc starts up you should see pc screen info on tv , this means you have set it up correctly .

Never liked the "force display detection crap" ... can be tempermantal at time's ... esspecially your drag and dropping method ... it's not a good idea .

Under clone display ... you might need to change your pc's resolution to get reasonable results for anything desktop related (800 x 600) ... but as for anything video related ... brilliant .

Play video back to tv for the kids ... while you work on other things ... nvidia has the option when right click video to > display on tv ... but again , the tv must be setup properly from the startup of the pc ... or trouble will not be far behind .

  7. Have an identical problem with AIW 2006. Worked as secondary display originaly. Installed and removed additional sound card is only software or hardware change. No right click on disabled display, "enable" in Catalyst Control center gives brief flash and goes back to disabled. Swapping Main to TV gets Desktop on TV, no CRT monitor. 42" HD plasma TV actually seems quite usable over S-Video connection.

Have checked the right click on attached but disabled display numerous times, no effect. ATI best guess is to install driver version 6.14. Since everything else is working OK, I will not change anything unless absolutely necessary.

Also, PC monitor worked after shutdown and disconnect TV. Still same issue, but workable.
